We loved how although attached to the main property it still felt completely secluded. The outside seating area where we had dinner both nights was reminiscent to places we have stayed in the south of France and was the perfect substitute for a romantic restaurant. We did the circular walk to Kingley Vale from the property and loved the views along the way, its definitely an area we’d return to.

We loved our stay at the Shepherds Barn, was in a great location in the countryside but also close to the beautiful centre of Chichester! We felt very relaxed and comfortable staying in the barn considering it is on someone else’s property! We were left alone to do our own thing but also knew that if we needed anything, help was only next door! We loved West Wittering Beach and actually spent both days there!

This compact and bijou country bolthole was very comfortable, which was fully equipped. Extremely warm with underfloor heating and a woodburner for those cold winter evenings. The owners fully respect your privacy, but are probably on site should you need them. The bed was extremely comfortable, however you need to be reasonably agile to get up to it and down from it as it’s up a wooden staircase on a mezzanine. We found this to be amazingly cosy, but it might not suit everyone. The area is quiet and reasonably remote so you’ll need a car to get to Chichester, Goodwood, Singleton, Witterings, etc. There are lots of walks right on your doorstep, so get your wellies on and get to one of the country pubs for a good meal and a pint of British beer. There’s minimal light pollution so you’ll be able to stargaze and, if you have one installed, you can use a constellation app. We had an awesome trip and I’m sure you will too.

Lovely little place with great facilities. It’s about 10mins from Goodwood so superb for festival of speed etc. A lot of care and attention taken in making it stylish yet classy, and a real gem. Perfect for two people looking for a weekend country retreat!

We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at The Barn. The atmosphere was very countrified and cottage-like. All the facilities were modern and clean and we felt as though we were in a private suite in a hotel. It was a lovely place to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary.

I booked this trip for my partners birthday weekend to get away from the hustle and bustle of London and just relax in peace and needless to say we couldn’t have picked a better location. Shepherds barn was absolutely perfect for the occasion, offering a cosy place to relax and unwind in the evenings whilst there was many country walks which we enjoyed during the day. We were pleasantly surprised to find many other essentials such as biscuits, tea and coffee had already been provided. The hosts were also very attentive as we had trouble lighting the log fire, and came right away to help with more kindling! The barn was clean and cosy and really felt like home. We were so sad to leave and will most definitely be returning. 10/10. We loved it.

The Shepherds Barn is absolutely perfect for a ‘Countryside Getaway’. The accommodation is secluded, private and well equipped for a short break. We didn’t meet Lucy is person but check-in was very easy and the finishing touches such as a fresh loaf, milk and eggs – along with blankets and candles around the place made our stay super cosy. We cannot wait to go back.

The Shepherd’s Barn is an idyllic hideaway, perfect for a short escape. It is beautifully designed and has all the comforts of home in a cosy small space. There are great local pubs, but our favourite day was a trip to Petworth, where the Hungry Guest Cafe served the perfect lunch and Dales Country Store is perhaps one of our favourite shops ever.
If you like horses (or even if, like me, you’re not an enthusiast) visit Cowdray and watch a Polo match (they are on most days). The thunder of the hooves of the galloping ponies is quite something to behold.

Our stay at Shepherds Barn was just lovely…the finishing touches, such as the fire and the underfloor heating along with the welcome package and little extras really made it a special, cosy experience!
I would highly recommend to all! Chichester is lovely and only a short drive away…has plenty of choices of restaurants etc.We would also recommend Hayling Island, about a 30 min drive away but a lovely little seaside island with a long, clean pebble beach…perfect for a refreshing walk and even better when the sun is out!

I just wanted to write to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at the Shepherd’s barn. It was a perfect little retreat. We appreciated many details not only in the fabric of the building, like the wood, flint and gold strutts, but in the underfloor heating, choice lighting, skylights in the bed area, and nice bedlinen, towels and bathroom products. Not to mention the kind wine and flowers you left. All in a lovely setting.

Such an amazing place! Had a truly wonderful stay. Hosts really helpful and left lovely goodies for us which was a great extra touch.

We had two great walks at Bosham harbour and Kingley Vale. We were catered by Waitrose so were able to relax and enjoy the barn in the evenings. Wood burner was great but we rather overheated!

Shepherd’s barn is a pristine and cozy conversion , thoughtfully designed with luxury fittings throughout . Lucy greeted us with sparkling wine to start our short break in style . We walked straight out onto the Downs and Kingley Vale from where we had stunning views of the coastline . A bracing walk on the beach at West Wittering was perfect – we just missed having a dog with us ! We drove over to the beautiful Tinwood vineyard for a wine tasting of their latest vintages . We will return to Shepherd’s barn soon to have a rejuvenating weekend.

We had an amazing time and we didn’t want to leave. It was just what we needed and gave us the R&R we were looking for. What a great way to spend our first anniversary together. There is a pub about 1hr 1/2 away but be prepared for a tough but very enjoyable walk over the south downs.

This is an incredible property. The place is gorgeous. It is finished to a very high standard. You are slightly out of the way but that doesn’t detract from the property. Lucy keeps in contact with you throughout the booking process and nothing is too much trouble. I have stayed at some high end hotels but none have been finished to this standard. Good luck with the rest of the season and we will be back. No improvement needed.We had a great couple of nights, beautiful, well thought out accommodation with some really nice touches. Lovely peaceful and relaxing location great for the nearby Farbridge wedding venue & some fantastic walking!

Perfect place for a romantic getaway. Check in is flexible and it is close to a lot of great places to visit from Chichester for the cathedral to Bognor Regis for lunch on the sea to West Wittering for a bit of beach. The views are tremendous, though, so you may not want to leave.

We stayed here during Goodwood FoS weekend and it proved to be the perfect location. The barn is quite small but very private and well equipped, including great wifi. The modern bathroom worked well, especially the large shower, while the bed up in the loft space proved to be surprisingly luxurious. It should be noted, though, the stairs up to the loft are quite steep but perfectly manageable. We look forward to returning again over the coming months.
